Notice of Policy Change Effective July 2026

BoosterPet Simparica Trio (and similar meds) Dispense and Refill Policy

We no longer require a heartworm test for the purchase or refill of Simparica Trio and similar parasite prevention medications. However, in accordance with WA State Law, all veterinary clinics are required to perform a yearly examination of your pet to approve ANY prescription medication or diets.

What you need to know about Heartworm Disease in Washington:

  • Heartworm disease is present in Washington.

  • All dogs that are not on a licensed heartworm preventive product (Simparica Trio or similar) are at risk of becoming infected by mosquito bite.

  • BoosterPet recommends a yearly heartworm test to make sure your dog is not infected by heartworm disease.

  • The manufacturer of Simparica Trio will not pay for heartworm treatment for a pet that has not had a yearly heartworm test (see Zoetis.com for full details).

By opting out of a yearly heartworm test for your pet, you accept any and all costs and risks associated with the use of Simparica Trio and similar products prescribed by BoosterPet.
